Fe 9 DEC 09:

with reference to me letter of September

12th., Your Honour has in a verbal interview explained to me

that the greater part of the preliminary leave which you winh

to take between October 11th. and 24th. will coincide with the

Court vacation during which there is practically no work to be

done, and that it has been customary in the past for the Puisne

Judre to undertake the work of the Chief Justice should the

latter desire to leave the Colony at that time. I have con-

-■ulted Mr. Justice Gompertz and I concur in this arrangerent,

and I have therefore the honour to inform you that I withdraw

the objection, expressed in paragraph 5 of my letter, to your

taking leave in the way you propose. In regard to the sim of

£50 alluded to in the 2nd. and 5th. para raphs of my letter, I

propose to defer any action pending the return of 1.Hallifax

when I shall learn under what circumstances its expenditure has

been incurred.

Honour

Tho Chief Justice.

I have etc.,

Governor, &C • •
